Operation principle of the PSA
The technology used for producing a flow of high purity nitrogen is Pressure Swing Adsorption. This technique uses a molecular sieve bed coal (CMS) to selectively eliminate O2 and other contaminants from the air. The bed alternates between the modes of purification and regeneration to ensure continuous production of nitrogen.
The gas generator is designed to receive compressed air pre filtered to 7 barg provided by an oil-free compressor (supplied by the laboratory or integrated in the generator). This flow of filtered air then passes through the compressed bed of CMS is mode of purification. Then the O2, CO2, moisture and some hydrocarbons are removed from the compressed air, producing a stream of nitrogen gas, dry and high purity
