BETASIL CN Columns

BETASIL CN columns offer 'alternative' selectivity

BETASIL CN columns are based on a high surface area 100Å pore size, fully deactivated type B pure silica to ensure sharp peaks and excellent reproducibility.

The 100Å pore size gives a high concentration of stationary phase coverage, which gives the columns reproducibility in fast reversed phase analysis and more retention than other cyano phase columns.

BETASIL CN columns offer 'alternative' selectivity due to dipole-dipole and dipole-induced dipole interactions, and can be used in normal or reversed phase separations.  

BETASIL columns are also offered in a wide range of stationary phases, making them an ideal family to choose when a range of selectivities is required on a 100Å pore size silica.

BETASIL Diol Columns

BETASIL Diol columns offer a great alternative to bare silica columns

  • Broad range of particle sizes and phases for wide method development options

BETASIL columns are based on 100Å pore size, fully deactivated type B silica to ensure sharp peaks and excellent reproducibility for the analysis of a wide range of compounds.

The 100Å pore size gives a high concentration of stationary phase coverage, which gives the columns reproducibility.

BETASIL Diol columns offer a great alternative to bare silica columns, as the presence of a stationary phase makes the columns far less sensitive to water than unbonded silica. If the facility to dry all solvents or samples proves difficult we recommend a Diol phase.

BETASIL columns are also offered in a wide range of stationary phases, making them an ideal family to choose when a range of selectivities is required on a 100Å pore size silica.

BETASIL Phenyl columns are based on a 100Å pore size, fully deactivated type B pure silica to ensure sharp peaks and excellent reproducibility.

Due to the 100Å pore size and high phase coverage BETASIL Phenyl columns exhibit more retention that other phenyl phases.

The phenyl phase gives 'alternative' selectivity to alkyl chain phases (C18) due to pi-pi interactions from the benzene ring.

The 100Å pore size gives a high concentration of stationary phase coverage, which gives the columns the highest level of reproducibility. The mixed mode stationary phase of aromatic phenyl groups and alkyl C6 chains allows for a both dispersive and pi-pi electron interactions, that will often lead to alternative selectivity to a wholly alkyl stationary phase column.

BETASIL columns are also offered in a wide range of stationary phases, making them an ideal family to choose when a range of selectivities is required on a 100Å pore size silica.

Classical Hypersil columns from Thermo Fisher Scientific have global recognition as an industry standard in HPLC with high quality, reproducible columns since 1976. 

Hypersil 100 C8 Columns

Hypersil 100 C8 Columns are a globally referenced column for robust methods.

Compared to other classical materials, Hypersil 100 has a smaller pore diameter of only 100Å, which creates a higher specific surface area that can be advantageous where longer retention times are needed, such as chromatography of polar compounds.

Hypersil CPS columns provide an alternative selectivity to the alkyl-chain silicas, with lower hydrophobicity.

Hypersil CPS columns can be used in both reversed phase and normal phase chromatography. Under normal phase conditions these materials provide a different selectivity to the Hypersil Silica and APS-2 phases. The cyano stationary phase is not deactivated by traces of water and can be used with gradient mobile phases in normal phase chromatography. In reversed phase LC Hypersil CPS columns provide an alternative selectivity to the alkyl-chain silicas, with lower hydrophobicity.

Hypersil Duet C18/SAX Columns

Hypersil Duet columns are an ideal choice for unknown compounds and metabolism studies.

  • Retention of compounds is optimized using mobile phase pH, ionic strength and percent organic

Hypersil Duet columns are an ideal choice for unknown compounds and metabolism studies, as they can separate hydrophobic and ionic compounds in a single analysis run. Retention of ionizable species is manipulated by adjustment of the mobile phase pH, and retention of hydrophobic compounds is control by a solvent gradient.

Duet SAX/C18 is a mixed-mode phase with 50% hydrophobic stationary phase (C18) and 50% strong ion anoin exchanger. This stationary phase makes expensive and time-consuming procedures such as column switching, using ion pair reagents or using columns in series redundant.

The main application areas of Hypersil Duet lie in metabolism studies, where the main component has strong hydrophobic character but the metabolites contain ionic groups.

Hypersil MOS-2 Columns

Hypersil MOS-2 columns are suitable for non-polar to moderately polar compounds.

These columns are based  on the same silica as the Hypersil ODS phase, so they have similar selectivity to Hypersil ODS columns but the lower carbon content makes them less retentive.

Hypersil MOS is a dimethyloctylsilane (C8 alkyl chain) fully endcapped stationary phase. The columns are based  on the same silica as the Hypersil ODS phase, so they have similar selectivity to Hypersil ODS columns but the lower carbon content makes them less retentive. Hypersil MOS-2 columns are suitable for non-polar to moderately polar compounds, but are not recommended for basic compounds. HyPURITY C8 or BetaBasic 8 columns are recommended for new method development and the analysis of basic compounds.

Columns can be obtained in all analytical to preparative sizes.

Hypersil SAS has as a trimethyl group (C1 alkyl chain) stationary phase to provide the shortest retention in comparison to other alkyl-modified phases for non-polar compounds. Hypersil SAS has shown unique selectivity for polar analytes and multi-functional compounds and is excellent at ion pair chromatography. For new method development, we recommend the use of one of newer BetaBasic 4 or HyPURITY C4 columns.

Hypersil SAX Columns

The Hypersil SAX is a strong cation exchange column.

The Hypersil SAX is recommended for analysis of small organic molecules and organic acids.

Hypersil SAX is a strong anion exchange column, which is typically used for  analysis of small organic molecules and organic acids. As the columns are based on the first generation classical 120Å pore size silica they are not recommended for analysis of biomolecules.

For new methods we recommend trying our latest ion exchange coulmns, BioBasic AX and SCX. The BioBasic AX coulmn contains a weak anion exchange phase (polyethyleneimine) on an ultra pure 300Å pore size type B silica, that is specifically designed for high performance analysis of peptides and proteins.
