BETASIL Diol columns offer a great alternative to bare silica columns, as the presence of a stationary phase makes the columns far less sensitive to water than unbonded silica. If the facility to dry all solvents or samples proves difficult we recommend a Diol phase.

Hypersil 100 C8 Columns are a globally referenced column for robust methods.
Compared to other classical materials, Hypersil 100 has a smaller pore diameter of only 100Å, which creates a higher specific surface area that can be advantageous where longer retention times are needed, such as chromatography of polar compounds.

Hypersil Duet columns are an ideal choice for unknown compounds and metabolism studies, as they can separate hydrophobic and ionic compounds in a single analysis run. Retention of ionizable species is manipulated by adjustment of the mobile phase pH, and retention of hydrophobic compounds is control by a solvent gradient.
Duet SAX/C18 is a mixed-mode phase with 50% hydrophobic stationary phase (C18) and 50% strong ion anoin exchanger. This stationary phase makes expensive and time-consuming procedures such as column switching, using ion pair reagents or using columns in series redundant.
The main application areas of Hypersil Duet lie in metabolism studies, where the main component has strong hydrophobic character but the metabolites contain ionic groups.

Hypersil MOS-2 Columns
Hypersil MOS-2 columns are suitable for non-polar to moderately polar compounds.
These columns are based on the same silica as the Hypersil ODS phase, so they have similar selectivity to Hypersil ODS columns but the lower carbon content makes them less retentive.
Hypersil MOS is a dimethyloctylsilane (C8 alkyl chain) fully endcapped stationary phase. The columns are based on the same silica as the Hypersil ODS phase, so they have similar selectivity to Hypersil ODS columns but the lower carbon content makes them less retentive. Hypersil MOS-2 columns are suitable for non-polar to moderately polar compounds, but are not recommended for basic compounds. HyPURITY C8 or BetaBasic 8 columns are recommended for new method development and the analysis of basic compounds.

Hypersil Phenyl is a non endcapped stationary phase, and has unique properties for analysis of aromatic compounds and moderately polar compounds. The retention characteristics are similar to those of a C8 (MOS) stationary phase, however the selectivity is different, making this phase ideal for aromatic compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Hypersil Phenyl columns offer 'alternative' selectivity compared to alkyl chain phases due to pi-pi interactions from the benzene ring, which makes them a good choice for compounds typically considered difficult to analyze.
The phenyl modification also permits the use of the columns under normal phase LC conditions.

Hypersil SAS has shown unique selectivity for polar analytes and multi-functional compounds and is excellent at ion pair chromatography.
Hypersil SAS has as a trimethyl group (C1 alkyl chain) stationary phase to provide the shortest retention in comparison to other alkyl-modified phases for non-polar compounds. Hypersil SAS has shown unique selectivity for polar analytes and multi-functional compounds and is excellent at ion pair chromatography. For new method development, we recommend the use of one of newer BetaBasic 4 or HyPURITY C4 columns.

Hypersil SAX Columns
The Hypersil SAX is a strong cation exchange column.
The Hypersil SAX is recommended for analysis of small organic molecules and organic acids.
Hypersil SAX is a strong anion exchange column, which is typically used for analysis of small organic molecules and organic acids. As the columns are based on the first generation classical 120Å pore size silica they are not recommended for analysis of biomolecules.
For new methods we recommend trying our latest ion exchange coulmns, BioBasic AX and SCX. The BioBasic AX coulmn contains a weak anion exchange phase (polyethyleneimine) on an ultra pure 300Å pore size type B silica, that is specifically designed for high performance analysis of peptides and proteins.
