Polymer-based Reversed Phase Columns

Polymethacrylate-based reversed phase columns are available in a range of pore and particle sizes. Although often not as efficient and less robust than silica-based RPC columns, key advantages of polymer-based columns are:

  • Wider pH range (1 to 12) allows many basic compounds to be analyzed in their uncharged form, thus reducing secondary adsorption and improving peakshape.
  • Improved recovery for peptides and proteins due to reduced secondary interactions


Highlights:

  • Polymer-based RPC columns are chemically stable from pH 2-12, allowing operation at basic pH where silica-based columns have limited chemical stability.
  • Polymer-based TSK-GEL RPC columns can be cleaned and endotoxin removed by using either strong acid or base.
  • Polymer-based TSK-GEL RPC columns are available packed with nonporous resins (NPR) or with porous resins of various sizes. The proper column to use is selected based on sample MW or application.

TSKgel Octadecyl-2PW is based on 5µm particle size G2000PW resin, with 125Å pores.

 

TSKgel Octadecyl-4PW is based on 7µm particle size G4000PW resin, which contains 500Å pores.

TSKgel Phenyl-5PW RP is based on 10µm particle size G5000PW resin, which has an average pore size of 1000Å.


TSKgel Octadecyl-NPR

Highly cross-linked polymethacrylate base material of TSKgel Octadecyl-NPR provides excellent stability in high pH buffer systems and can withstand rigorous cleaning with either acid or base. 

NPR, non-porous resin, columns are prepared from non-porous methacrylate particles of uniform 2.5 micron size, which provides high efficiency separations and fast anaylses of peptides and proteins. The non-porous particle structure limits product isolation to sub-microgram loads.

TSKgel Phenyl-5PW RP

TSKgel Phenyl-5PW RP offers similiar selectivity to its hydrophobic interation counterpart TSKgel Phenyl-5PW, although a higher degree of cross-linking allows for increased stability in aqueous/organic mobile phase gradients.

The highly cross-linked polymethacrylate base material provides an advantage over silica when high pH buffer systems are needed. Additionally, TSKgel Phenyl-5PW RP can withstand rigorous cleaning protocols using either acid or base. The 1000Å pore size accommodates globular protein samples up to 1,000,000 Da.
